Mediator's New Breakfast Club
Maria Arpa was the speaker for the morning at the last Mediator's New Breakfast Club, on the 13th July, providing some fascinating tales of her ground-breaking work with communities and criminals. Maria told the attending members about her work resolving a dispute between surviving members of a refugee camp and a steel company that bought the site, a long process that eventually was resolved to the satisfaction of all parties.
In addition, she has worked for years in South East of London building trust with the key influencers and seeking through mediation to halt the vicious circle of gang violence. Her work has successfully transformed the godfather of gang violence in one UK region where he now conducts his own mediation process. He now starts with the view of 'no-one wants to die today', rather than his previous mind set 'who are we going to kill today', a very marked change.
