About Michael Cover

Accredited Mediator and Chartered Arbitrator, FCIArb, CArb

Michael is the Principal of Michael Cover ADR Limited. He has over 30 years experience as a Barrister, and Solicitor, both in private practice and as in-house Counsel.  He is an accredited Mediator with CEDR, ADR Chambers and ADR Group and has been involved in over 100 mediations. He is a full member of In Place of Strife, the Mediation Chambers.

Michael is also a member of the Sports Resolutions UK Panel (Panel of Mediators), as well as being a member of the Panel of Arbitrators and Mediators of Just Sport Ireland, the Irish National Sports Disputes Resolution body.  He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a Chartered Arbitrator and, as such, is one of the very few people dual-qualified as a commercial and an arbitrator.  In addition, Michael has been appointed to the Board of Management of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and has been welcomed onto the UK Register of Mediators (UKRM), a non-profit making organisation, with an external Standards Board that monitors the activity of its members.  Most recently, Michael has been selected as a member of the arbitration panel of the Dubai International Arbitration Centre.

Michael regularly mediates a wide variety of disputes including:

He has both acted for both clients in the pharmaceutical industry and been involved in mediations in that industry. He is a member of the Mediation Panel of the Court of Appeal and has mediated disputes referred from that source.

Michael's arbitration practice extends to international trade disputes, IP disputes and construction and infrastructure disputes.

Michael is an active member of a European Branch of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.  In addition, he is a member of the Practice and Standards Committee of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He has recently become a Corporate Panel Member of the Disputes Board Federation and has joined the Dispute Resolution Board Foundation.

One of the UK's Top Mediators

Michael is a regular writer, speaker and presenter on ADR topics and is a regular panel member at the Annual Mediation Symposium of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.  In the 2010 Legal 500, Michael was very well positioned, appearing in group 3 of the top mediator's in the UK, proving himself as one of the leading mediators of civil and commercial disputes in the country.

Michael has a particular interest in mediation and arbitration of cross-cultural disputes and has mediated disputes in French.
